Birthdays!

This is the time of year for lots of birthdays in our family! August and early September! Love, love, love all the celebrations! We tend to do it up really big for each birthday, usually several days long! We always pick a favorite meal, movie, and sometimes have small or large parties. My sister had two small parties this year and I am planning to have a large game party and also an antique shopping outing! So excited! It's my birthday week! YAY! Started it off yesterday with a triple birthday celebration for my aunt, sister and me! We went out to lunch in an old theater, then did some antique shopping! Very fun day and a wonderful break from studying!

Only two more weeks until my summer break begins! Then I will be going to school full time in the Fall again! I'm loving this history class, but I am still looking forward to my two weeks off! Don't have a lot of plans yet. Just planning to relax mostly.

Love summer!!!

Keep Praying!

Please keep praying for my friend Yousra Wafa and her sister in Saudi Arabia. At this point the family is trying to get media attention and would love for anyone to pass on the word of her sister who needs help. In a previous posting I have more of the details. Her sister needs a miracle to intervene in her situation! Please pray that the Lord would rescue her from her captors! Thank you all!

My Heart's Desire!

"Whom have I in heaven but Thee?
And besides Thee, I desire nothing on earth"
~Psalms 7325

Do I desire something other than God and his best for me? Am I envious of others and content with my life? This Scripture begs these answers! I just read an incredible devotional out of Purity: A Godly Woman's Adornment by Lydia Brownback called "A Pure Woman Has One Desire" based on this Scripture above. All of Psalms 73 is awesome! I went and read the whole thing and was amazed at how little I remembered some of it! A lot of it is Asaph complaining that he can't stand to see the evil people rewarded along with the good because he believes it is unfair. "Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure, And washed my hands in innocence..." vs. 13. He's asking what the point is in keeping pure when the unjust and impure are all still getting all the good stuff and being rewarded as much if not more than him. WOW! Do we think this sometimes? I know I do. That is when I start complaining about my life and looking around at others. Not a good thing to do!

"Until I came into the sanctuary of God;
Then I perceived their end." vs. 17

Until Asaph came to God again he could not see the point. We must be constantly in His word and looking to Him for all the answers and even when we don't see the answers, we must still trust Him with our lives and the lives of others. God does know what He is doing!

"God wants us to know what it's like to desire nothing but him. That's why he allows us to find such little lasting satisfaction with the world's toys and joys. We get something we've always wanted, or a dream comes true, yet it quickly becomes just part of life's routine. So what do we do? We set out to lay hold of some new earthbound pleasure. We don't stop to consider that our inability to find lasting happiness in earthly blessings and personal dreams is because God designed us for something else. Our dissatisfaction is his way of wooing us to find our all in him."
~Lydia Brownback

So true! May I find my lasting happiness and contentment in Him alone no matter what this world has to offer me. I pray that you can do the same, dear reader!

Urgent Prayer Request!

Hello All!

The following is a facebook status update from my dear friend Yousra Wafa. This is regarding her sister who is Egyptian, but works in Saudi Arabia. Please keep her in your prayers for a miracle! Thanks! Please share and pass on to anyone who would pray for her!

Love,
Hannah

Hello all!

Naglaa Wafa, my sister and an Egyptian residing in Saudi Arabia, has been charged with violating laws pertaining to the operation of her business and sentenced to 5 years in prison and 500 lashes, after being detained for about two and a half years.

But Naglaa, from the start, was denied the right to defend herself against the charges and was not allowed to hire an attorny. The court has no proof that Naglaa committed those violations, since there never were any investigations, evidence or trials. The Egyptian embassy didn't try to protect her. Why? Naglaa is breaking her silence and says that a Saudi Arabian princess, a business partner and former friend of Naglaa, set Naglaa up and warned her not to let a word out. But Naglaa is taking the chance, after her failed attempts, over the past 3 years, to deal with the allegation diplomatically, and decided to take the case public.

She endured the pain of 300 lashes and will have to endure the pain of another 200 starting next week if we don't take action. She took a chance on us, the public, to save her from the cruelty of the sentence. We can't fail her. After all, she is risking everything. Please share and help if you can!

Yousra

Thanks everyone for praying! This is very dear to my heart

Hannah

Busy Summer!

Birthdays, long summer walks, a history class, trips to the coast, San Francisco, time with friends and family, and so much more have made this summer so very busy and fun! Summer always goes by too fast for me, but I always treasure it! Particularly here in the Northwest I always love this time of year and look forward to it intensely! I can hardly believe August is half way gone.

I am trying to count my blessings and enjoy fully every day! It makes life so much more joyful! I just got a call from an old friend that made my day today and made me think about my life in California. I miss my friends there and would love to move back someday, but the Lord knows His plan for me and I am trying to trust him instead of wish I was somewhere else. I do appreciate my friends and family in Oregon too and am so grateful for all the people in my life here, in Texas, California, and Oklahoma! Thank you Lord for all the dear friends and family you have placed in my life. I am content!

Hope!

I'm sitting in the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Gardens in Golden Gate Park looking at an amazing windmill. There is something about a windmill in a garden that captures me and seems so bigger than life magnificent. It is just beautiful here in the Golden Gate Park. Love this place! We spent several hours on the most beautiful beach adjacent to the park. So reminded me of the Central Coast where I grew up! Just stunning! There is nothing like walking along a beautiful beach to relax you and make you have a fun time.

I feel that this vacation is giving me hope again. It gives me hope to look upon an incredible future. I and my entire family have been living with stress for so long now with all our medical problems, personal things, job issues, etc. God new we needed a break! So refreshing!

This is something I read in my quiet time today and I loved it so much and it seemed so apt for my life at the moment that I thought I'd post it as well. Hope it encourages you all!

"Hope is the music of life. It gives us zest, gusto, and verve. Hope puts a song in our hearts. It not only gets our feet tapping but it gives us the freedom to move out into the 'dance of life' with energy and excitement.
Hope is more than words, though. Yes, it is far more than carefully turned phrases or slogans or self-help pep talks. To be real, hope must live inside us. We don't posses hope; hope possesses us. Authentic hope captures us and, at the same time, sets us free."

Bridesmaids Dress!

I am about to head out on this beautiful sunny blue sky day here in the Northwest to pick up my bridesmaids dress for a friends wedding that is coming up next month! So excited! It's going to be a great day!

My spring break just started on Friday and I am so looking forward to a week off of school. I have a whole lot planned for my school break, so hopefully I will accomplish many of the things I have set out to do. I have some planning/shopping to do for the wedding I will be in in Oklahoma on April 21st. I am getting so excited! It will be quite grand! My sisters will be flying out with me and we will be staying about a week in Oklahoma City area! It will be an awesome sisters trip and an amazing wedding I am sure! On my school break I also have several sewing projects I want to complete including a couple of summer dresses that I'm hoping to take on my trip. I have many other things planned as well, such as, organizing closets in the house and well I guess you would just call it spring cleaning :)! Absolutely love spring break!

Also, love the fact that Spring does seem to be officially starting here in Oregon, at least for today! We always have to enjoy lovely weather here in the Northwest while we can, because it never lasts for long. Unfortunately the forecast does have a lot of rain predicted :(.

Hope everyone out there in the blogging world is doing great and that you are enjoying the start of Spring!

True Courage

I have been studying 1 John and have been so very blessed and encouraged in my personal walk with God. I though I would share with you all an excerpt from the study I am going through, When God First Thought of You by Lloyd John Ogilvie.

This is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. (1 John 5:4)

"The Duke of Wellington, who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo, recorded in his journal the need for 'three o'clock in the morning courage.'
We would agree. Before and in the midst of the battles of life, we need courage. Courage is fear that has been on its knees in prayer. Whenever we start thanking God in tight situations, courage begins to flow. It is a quality of spirit which meets danger or opposition with intrepidity, calmness, resoluteness, and determination. Mordecai's words to Queen Esther focus our need for courage. 'Could it be that you have been brought to the Kingdom for such a time as this?'.....
There are conditions to courage, however. It is the special gift to those who are doing the Lord's work on His strength. Paul could ask, 'If God is for us, who can be against us?' The Lord is always for us, but he's not always for what we are doing. Paul said, 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' He could do all the things which were guided by the Lord.
Once we are sure of his direction we can be equally sure of the gift of courage. Christian courage is given for carrying the cross of obedience....
The reason many contemporary Christians lack courage is that they are not involved in issues or challenges in which the Lord is their only invisible means of support. Most of the things we attempt can be done on our own strength. The adventure of the Christian life begins when we dare to do what we could never pull off without the Holy Spirit. That's when courage is given."
Lloyd John Ogilvie

How powerful of a word is this! So needed in my life and in every Christians life. So blessed to read this! I hope you all are inspired to live courageously for the Lord!

Rain, rain, and more rain...

It has been an incredibly stormy last week or so. First it snowed for several days, and then it turned into pouring rain. Now it appears that we have another calm here in the Portland area before another storm. What I am waiting for though is the sun to come out! Unfortunately, it may be a long wait :(.

Things have been so busy that I have not had time until now to post again on my new blog! My sisters 21st birthday is this weekend, so my family and I have been preparing for that. We also have company coming next week, so we've been getting the house ready. Also this is my second week back to school, so that has certainly made me incredibly busy too.

I just wanted to write a quick post saying that I hadn't forgotten about my blog and I will post more when I have more time.

New Year, New Blog!

This is my first attempt at a blog! I've been wanting to start one for a while and thought now was as good a time as any. I have known for a while what I wanted to name a blog, so that was a start :)! The reason for naming my blog "With an Everlasting Love" is because one of my very favorite Scriptures has always been, "I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with loving kindness." Jeremiah 31:3.

My ideas as of now of what I will post on this blog are a variety of things, such as, movie and book reviews, favorite Scriptures/devotions, articles for young woman to encourage them to live in purity and to be set apart for the Lord, and I guess anything else that comes to mind. I will not be updating on my day to day life so much, just mainly be encouraging people to live for the Lord.

Here's to a new blog! YAY!
